FAYETTE COUNTY — A 33-year-old Fayette County man was arrested Sunday following a lengthy standoff at a Vandalia home that involved officers from around the region, including the regional SWAT Team.

Randy J. Bone was formally charged Monday with felony aggravated battery involving the use of a deadly weapon and misdemeanor domestic battery causing bodily harm.

According to Vandalia police, they were alerted around 6:30 Sunday night that Bone was in a residence on South Lake Street and was reportedly armed.

Illinois State Police, Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies, and Vandalia police officers responded to the scene, but after unsuccessful attempts to contact Bone the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) SWAT Tem was brought in and a search warrant for the home was secured.

After a nearly 5-hour standoff, he SWAT Team, with assistance from police officers and sheriff’s deputies, was able to remove Bone from the residence

Bone was taken to the Fayette County Jail where he remains with bail set at $25,000. He is next scheduled for a September 20 preliminary hearing a first appearance with court appointed attorney.
