Marion County Sheriff’s deputies report that when they arrived on the scene just before 8:30 Tuesday night, they found Kaci Bruce in the front seat of the car and she was having an active seizure with unsteady breathing.

Bruce, who was in a car registered to her in-laws in Bluford, was found in a remote area of Bottom Road at the tracks of the old railroad overpass. The front and rear tires on the passenger side of the vehicle were reportedly off the ground.

Deputies removed Bruce from the car and she was transported by Marion County EMS to Salem Township Hospital.

Bruce was released from the hospital later that night, but had earlier handed a foil to a deputy at the hospital and it reportedly field tested positive for methamphetamine. Deputies also report finding a pipe for smoking meth in the front seat of the car.

The vehicle was later towed from the scene and Bruce was arrested at her home Wednesday. She was formally charged Thursday in Marion County Court with Class 3 felony possession of less than 5-grams of meth and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

She remained in the Marion County Jail Thursday with bail set at $15,000. Special conditions of release include abstaining from drugs and alcohol. Her husband recently took out an order of protection against her in Jefferson County Court.

Bruce is next scheduled in court September 6, with court appointed counsel.
