JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 28-year-old Mt. Vernon man was formally charged earlier this month in Jefferson County Court with multiple felonies, including home invasion.

Joshua B. Elliott was charged August 18, with two counts Class X home invasion, Class 1 residential burglary, and Class 4 domestic battery.

According to court records, on August 16, Elliott entered a home in the 300 block of Caborn Street and stayed inside the home until people returned home. He then allegedly threatened to cut two people with a knife.

The charges allege that Elliott entered the home with the intent of battering his ex girlfriend, who he grabbed by the hair.

Elliott was arrested in the St. Louis area and was transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
