Grants for low-income schools to visit Lincoln Museum

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — There’s good news for schools that haven’t been able to visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield because they can’t afford it.

The museum said Wednesday that schools can now apply for grants to help pay for a visit.

The grants from the Winnick Family Foundation are available to elementary school classes from the fourth grade, middle school classes and high school classes through the 12th grade. Both public and private schools with a low-income enrollment above 30 percent are eligible.

The grants help pay for the cost of transportation to the museums. All groups receiving the grants are admitted to the museum for free.

The application deadline is Oct. 15.
