(Salem, IL) — Bail has been set at $15,000 for a 26-year-old Centralia woman charged Friday in Marion County Court with felony aggravated battery to a peace officer and misdemeanor resisting arrest. Heather Crabtree allegedly kicked in a door Thursday night at a home on Martin Luther King Drive. However, when Centralia police responded to the disturbance, Crabtree was reportedly walking away from the home. According to police, she began screaming as they attempted to place her in handcuffs. One officer ultimately carried Crabtree and placed her in the squad car where she began kicking the windows and doors of the car. Officers subsequently sprayed Crabtree with pepper spray. Crabtree was then transported to the Centralia Police Department where she was placed in a holding cell. Police say she was then involved in another altercation at that time. She was ultimately taken to the Marion County Jail, but according to court records she was unable to appear in court Friday morning due to vomiting and other stomach issues. Crabtree is next scheduled to appear in court with court appointed counsel.
