EFFINGHAM — A 51-year-old Kentucky truck driver was killed early Tuesday morning in a crash on Interstate 57 just south of Effingham.

According to Illinois State Police, around 1:41 a.m. Tuesday, Rudy W. Cobb, of Burna, Ky., was southbound on I-57 near the south tri-level when he lost control of his semi.

The truck struck a guardrail on the west shoulder of the interstate, and traveled along the guardrail for several hundred feet before overturning and sliding on its top down an embankment where it came to rest.

ISP reports that at some point during the crash Cobb was ejected from the cab of the truck and was fatally injured.
