HAMILTON COUNTY — Hamilton County authorities are investigating a homicide that happened just after midnight in McLeansboro.

Sheriff Robert Crow tells our sister station WQRL in Benton that a man was shot to death early this morning, and Illinois State Police along with the sheriff’s office, coroner’s office, and the McLeansboro Police Department are on the scene.

One man has reportedly been arrested in connection with the shooting death. Wayne County authorities reportedly arrested 22-year-old Zachary J. Shock early Friday morning.

According to Hamilton County Coroner Steve Bowling, the man was killed just after midnight this morning in the 400 block of E. Broadway in McLeansboro. He was pronounced dead at 1:40 a.m. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, but Crow says ISP should be releasing a statement around 9 a.m.
