PERRY COUNTY — Law enforcement is asking the public for help identifying two suspects who were the focus of a manhunt Thursday in Perry County following a vehicle theft.

The hunt for a white man and woman in their mid-20s was suspended, after police searched for the couple who reportedly stole s truck from the village of Tamaroa around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police say the pair fled into the woods just north of Pinckneyville, with Perry County Sheriff Steve Bareis chasing the suspects down a country road after they turned onto Deer Run Road north of Pinckneyville.

Illinois State Police joined in the search, but the suspects have not been found.  If you have information about the suspects or if you see anyone walking around in the area just north of Pinckneyville, you’re urged to contact the Perry County Sheriff’s Office at 618-357-5212.
