COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Police records show a southern Illinois boy who died after a fall at a school had been sliding down a bannister.

Records released Friday after a Freedom of Information Act request by the Belleville News-Democrat state 14-year-old Tray Turner suffered the fall on a staircase at Collinsville High School on Sept. 19 after asking another student to give him a push down the bannister.

The other boy told police he pushed Tray to get him going, and Tray slid down the bannister but fell off before reaching the end of the staircase.

Tray died three days later a St. Louis hospital.

Police say they consider the case closed with no criminal charges forthcoming.
