FRANKLIN COUNTY — A 20-year-old Benton man who was reportedly armed and dangerous is now in custody, after being captured near Interstate 57 in West Frankfort.
According to Franklin County authorities, Keith Redmon was the subject of a search Wednesday, after he allegedly stole a 1996 blue over silver Ford F-150 pickup truck with chrome wheels. Law enforcement sought the public’s help in locating Redmon.
The truck was recovered Wednesday afternoon in Christopher, but Redmon remained on the loose.
He was ultimately located around 6 p.m. Wednesday in a wooded area near Interstate 57 in West Frankfort. Redmon was taken to the Franklin County Jail where he awaits the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
Redmon was believed to have been armed with at least one handgun, and was wanted for a burglary and vehicle theft there, as well as other vehicle thefts in the area.
Redmon was released in March from the Illinois Department of Corrections after serving less than 2 years of a 6 year sentence out of Hamilton County on a Class 2 felony stolen vehicle conviction.
