Lou Etheridge

angel_emblem_left_grandePATOKA — Lou Etheridge, 80, of Patoka, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

She was born the daughter of Barnett and Inez (Milt) Friedman on January 14, 1936 in Mt. Vernon. She married Paul Etheridge on September 10, 1954 in Sardis, Mississippi and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2005.

Survivors include her son Mike Etheridge and wife Mary Ann, of Hoffman; daughters Lou Ann McGee picture-puband husband Mike, of Patoka and Cindy Miller and husband Larry, of Patoka; son-in-law Mark Payne, of Vernon; grandchildren Kara Bach and husband Curt, of Carlyle, Mike Etheridge and wife Erin, of Beckemeyer, Michelle Pieron and husband Brandon, of Carlyle, Justin Etheridge and wife Shannon, of Mascoutah, Misty Philpot and husband Jim, of Vandalia, Melissa Elliott and husband Mark, of Vandalia, Cody McGee and wife Amber, of Flora, Markie Payne and wife Sarah, of Vernon, Tyler Payne of Vernon, and Ryan Miller of Patoka; 23 great-grandchildren; sister Phyllis McKinney and husband Darrell, of Mt. Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy Payne; sister Doris Merriman; and brother Donald Friedman.

Mrs. Etheridge will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and family. For many years, she was a special education driver for Patoka school district. She also enjoyed camping.

Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Patoka City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Patoka American Legion, Tammy Payne Memorial Fund, MOOG Center for Deaf Education, or the Autism Foundation.
