Zachary J. Shock was advised he’s eligible for extended term sentencing if he’s convicted of Berkel’s shooting death.

Shock was arrested last month and charged in Hamilton County Circuit Court with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery with a firearm.

He was arrested in Fairfield after he allegedly fled the shooting scene in McLeansboro, and is being held in the White County Jail for Hamilton County authorities pending trial. Bail has been set at $2.5 million.

Shock was appointed a public defender Thursday and the preliminary hearing was continued until December 1.
