JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit was called to the scene of a shooting Tuesday night in Belle Rive, where Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating after a man was reportedly shot in the neck.

According to reports, Jefferson County was called to the 1400 block of Abbott Lane in Belle Rive on a report of the shooting.

Deputies were already on scene at a traffic crash, so an Ina police officer responded, along with Sheriff Travis Allen and Chief Deputy Clint Taylor.

The man was taken to the hospital for treatment, and was then airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital. No additional details are being released at this time.
