Authorities continue to search for suspect as victim dies from gunshot wound

MURPHYSBORO — Authorities are reporting that one of two victims shot Monday in Murphysboro has died from his injuries.

According to Murphysboro police, 38-year-old, Detrick Yurnell Rogers of Murphysboro succumbed to his injuries Tuesday at a St. Louis hospital.

The second victim, 27-year-old Cortez Lamont Turner was treated at a local hospital and released.

Police are now searching for a 26-year-old Murphysboro man in connection with the shootings.  A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Juwan K. Jackson.

Jackson is wanted on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm, armed violence, and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.

Police believe he may be in Paducah, Kentucky or Jackson County, Illinois.

Investigators say Jackson shot Rogers in the head.
