WASHINGTON COUNTY — A 38-year-old Missouri man remains in the Washington County Jail, after was taken into custody by the Illinois State Police Tuesday near Nashville for possession of a stolen vehicle, among other charges.

According to the Illinois State Police, Leonard Pace of Sedalia, Missouri, was arrested after a trooper on patrol on Interstate 64 stopped a late model Crown Victoria driving at a high rate of speed through a construction zone.

The police dispatcher notified the trooper that the vehicle with those license plates had been reported as stolen from Sedalia, Missouri in September.

Pace was arrested without incident with the assistance of the Nashville Police Department and Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

He is charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, driving under the influence, speeding in a construction zone, illegal transportation of alcohol, and no valid license plates.
