MOUNT VERNON — A 26-year-old Mt. Vernon man was arrested over the weekend on multiple firearms-related charges,
following an investigation into shots fired near South 12th Street and Jones.
Charles Tyler Ford was arrested on charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon – no FOID card. Ford’s arrest came after an investigation into gunshots fired around 8:21 p.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of South 12th Street.
A Mt. Vernon police officer responding to the report made contact with subjects in the area during the investigation and developed suspect information after speaking with witnesses.
The Mt Vernon Police Department Crime Scene Technician and Detective were called in to assist with the investigation that resulted in Ford’s arrest. He remains in the Jefferson County Jail awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
