MOUNT VERNON — Mt. Vernon police are investigating a Saturday night robbery that took place in an alley west of 26th and Forest Street.

According to police reports, around 8 p.m. Saturday, they received a report that a female walking in the alley was approached by two white males, who reportedly ran toward her and attempted to take her purse.

A fight began between the female and the two males until the purse was released. The female received numerous injuries and the purse and its contents were taken.

The Jefferson County Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying these two men.
