FAYETTE COUNTY — The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, along with 14 other state and local law enforcement agencies and the Fayette County State’s Attorney’s Office, seized more than 20 pounds of cannabis Wednesday during a traffic safety campaign along Interstate 70.

Bail has been set at $250,000 each for three Ohio men taken into custody in connection with nearly 25 pounds of pot discovered during the six hour detail.

According to Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith, 30-year-old Juan Carlos Campos Travares, 22-year-old Heshima Raheem Jones, and 18-year-old Cordell Lee Shelton, are in the Fayette County Jail awaiting the formal filing of charges in connection with 24.5 pounds of cannabis seized.

Bail has been set at $20,000 for 21-year-old Justin Anthony Sawitke, of Colorado, for alleged Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer, Aggravated Assault on Peace Officer, and Possession of over 30 grams Cannabis.

In another separate stop, 32-year-old Amy Lynn Brooks, of Missouri, was arrested for alleged Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and on an outstanding warrant for Failure to appear in court. Her bail has been set at $10,000.

Four other individuals were arrested for various driver’s license and insurance violations.
