CENTRALIA — Velma Jean Laughhunn, 81, of Centralia, passed away Thursday November 3, 2016 at her home.
Velma was born January 22, 1935, the daughter of Daniel and Matilda (Poggemiller) May. She married Charles Dean Laughhunn and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by four children, Randy Laughhunn, of Richview, Ronnie Laughhunn of Centralia, Dee Dee Laughhunn, of Centralia, and Brenda Wooters and husband Michael of Centralia; one brother, Donald May and wife Marilyn of Centralia; two sisters:, Marilyn Erbes of Centralia, and Gloria Pursell and husband Jerry of Marietta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Blake, Angie, Ronnie, Stephanie, and Terrence; and five great-grandchildren, Hallie, Danielle, Robert, Tanner, and Rory.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister Barbara Phillips.
Velma was May Fete Attendant in 1953, and she worked at Wheaton Plastics for over 30 years. She also worked for Hollywood Candy Company and Illinois Bell Telephone. She was a very loving, compassionate person and a most wonderful mother ever. She loved the lord, her family and her two little dogs, Peppy and Puppy with all her heart. She loved to shop and gardening and going to garage sales. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia with Pastor Mark Girardin officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia.
Visitation will be held from noon to the time of service at the church on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia and will be accepted by the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia who is assisting the Laughhunn family.
