CHICAGO (AP) — A 37-year-old Indiana man accused by authorities of posing as a psychiatrist at a Chicago clinic and prescribing drugs to a 9-year-old child and others has been convicted by a federal jury on fraud charges.

Scott Redman of Hammond was found guilty Thursday on three counts of wire fraud, one count of aggravated identity theft, one count of furnishing false information to the Drug Enforcement Administration and five counts of distributing a controlled substance.

Federal prosecutors say Redman assumed the identity of an Illinois physician to see patients and prescribe medications to more than 40 individuals from September 2015 until this past February.

Redman faces up to 166 years in prison when he is sentenced on Feb. 8.
