SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is ruling that officials in Collinsville were wrong to try to limit a resident’s request to see the city manager’s emails.

Resident Mary Drumm had asked for a month’s worth of emails between the City Manager Mitch Blair and the planning firm that was preparing a plan for a special business taxing district, but the city said that fulfilling the request would be unduly burdensome.

Madigan’s office says the city failed to present a convincing case to deny Drumm’s access to these public records.
