Four jurors were selected Monday and another four were selected Tuesday in the murder trial of Dewayne Moore.

It’s anticipated the final jurors will be chosen Wednesday, with opening arguments being delivered Thursday morning.

Moore is accused of the August 30, 2015, shooting death of Cortez Pickett in his Mt. Vernon home. Because a gun was used in the commission of the alleged crime, Moore could be sentenced to between 45 years and life in prison if convicted.

At the time of his arrest for the Cortez murder, Moore was already in the Jefferson County Jail on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident related to a vehicle crash around the time of the murder.

He is also facing separate charges of felony obstruction, and felony manufacture with the intent to deliver cocaine. Moore remains in the Jefferson County Jail on a combined bail of $3,010,000.
