MARION, Ill. — The City of Marion is offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for a string of arson fires this week.

Around 7:50 Tuesday night, Marion police and firefighters went to the 800 block of North Granite where a utility trailer containing a four wheeler was on fire.

Then at 8:36 p.m., police and firefighters were called to the 1600 block of North Bruce Street regarding a mobile home fire which caused some minor damage outside.

At 8:49 p.m., they were called to the 1500 block of Maureen Drive regarding a small brush fire on the back porch of a home. It caused little damage.

Shortly after 9 p.m., police and firefighters were sent out to the 1500 block of North Russell Street regarding a fire inside an apartment building. The fire did some interior damage.

Then at 10:32 p.m., they were called out to the 700 block of North Vicksburg regarding a small fire inside a home. Damage was minimal.

Most recently, around 12:50 Wednesday morning, police and firefighters went to the 500 block of South Market regarding a fire that had been started on the front porch and the home was engulfed in flames when units arrived. Firefighters were able to put the fire out.
