MARION COUNTY — Bail has been set at $15,000 each for two men arrested over the weekend for alleged burglary.

Centralia Police arrested 23-year-old Travis Keenom, who said he was homeless, and 33-year-old Christopher Owens, of Wamac, Saturday night after they attempted to enter a home in the 14000 block of South Poplar.

Around 8:19 p.m. Saturday, the homeowner reportedly heard a loud noise and saw one of the men trying to kick out a window of a door. But as the homeowner opened the door the two men reportedly fled on foot.

The homeowner chased the men to a mobile home at 14th and Hester where he called police.

While a surveillance camera was too low to capture the men’s faces but it did provide police with views to identity the two men through their pants and shoes.

A brand name insignia on the bottom of Owens shoes allegedly matched one left behind on the door.

Both men were taken to the Marion County Jail where they remain each facing a Class 2 felony charge of residential burglary.

They’re both scheduled to next appear in court November 14 for first appearances with court appointed attorneys.
