SALEM — Little Egypt Golf Cars in Salem was heavily damaged by fire early Saturday morning.

When firefighters arrived on scene at the South Broadway business the office area was fully involved and firefighters still had to get the security gate open before they could get inside the property and start knocking down the fire.

The fire was found to be in the attic above the shop area, which was difficult for firefighters to reach because of the steel structure around it.

The office and parts of the north end of the building are considered a total loss, while havy damage was sustained in the maintenance area due to the ceiling caving in.

Dispatch received the call around 12:30 Saturday morning. Odin firefighters responded with mutual aid at the scene, while Kell firefighters stood by at the Salem fire station. Sandoval firefighters responded to the scene to refill air tanks.

The building is 190-feet long and about 60 feet deep. The fire could be seen near Interstate 57.
