JEFFERSON COUNTY — Jefferson County sheriff Travis Allen has announced plans to run for county treasurer. Allen posted the following on Facebook Wednesday night.

In the post Allen not only announced he will be seeking the Treasurer’s seat, but his chief deputy Clint Taylor will be seeking election to the sheriff’s seat.

Allen said he believes with his master’s degree in management, experience as Sheriff, and the close workings I have with the County finances, he is qualified for the treasurer position.

Allen was elected Jefferson County sheriff in 2014 after serving as the police chief of Ina. In October, Allen had announced intentions to run for re-election.
