CENTRALIA — Janice Wzientek, 79, of Centralia, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.
In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is also survived by two daughters: Tracy Raef of Boone, Iowa and Tami Cunningham and her husband Al of Parker, Colorado; a granddaughter: Alison Cunningham, an undergraduate at Creighton Universityin Omaha, Nebraska; a special nephew, Storm Maue of Centralia.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Janice lived in Centralia most of her life and graduated from Centralia High School in 1956. After high school Janice moved to St. Louis and worked as a bookkeeper. Janice also spent a number of years living in Connecticut and Michigan with her husband and young children. Janice and her family returned to Centralia in 1973. She was a member of St. Mary Church in Centralia and served as a Minister of Hospitality at the church. She was a member of the DAR and served as Assistant Regent. She was also a members of the Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War. She attended classes at Kaskaskai College. She enjoyed researching her family ancestry, making crafts, knitting, sewing, and ceramics. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at St. Mary Church in Centralia with Monsignor David Darin officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Church in Centralia.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, which is assisting the family with arrangements.
