JEFFERSON COUNTY — Bail has been set at $200,000 for a 25-year-old Mt. Vernon woman was arrested Friday for alleged drug-induced homicide.

According to court records, Zia Flowers is accused of delivering a substance November 12  suspected of being heroin to 40-year-old Lavelta Washington in the 600 block of South 24th Street in Mt. Vernon. The investigation was assisted by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing. Flowers remains in the Jefferson County Jail awaiting the formal charges.

Drug-induced homicide is a Class X felony punishable by six to 30 years in prison.
