SANDOVAL — Vonda Lou Lewis, 80, of Sandoval, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Carlyle Health Care in Carlyle.
Vonda is survived by her beloved children, Mike Lewis of Sandoval, Penny Walker and husband Bob of Patoka, and Chris Lewis and wife Claudia of Centralia; cherished granddaughter Nicole Lewis of Arlington, VA; further survived by a host of nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Angel.
Besides her parents, and her husband of 61 years, Vonda was preceded in death by her granddaughter Sophia Gabrielle Lewis; sister Shirley Carrigan; brother Russell Brumfield, and loving aunt Mary McGowan.
Vonda will forever be remembered as one of the most caring, compassionate, and uplifting women who loved her family beyond measure. Her favorite pastime was shopping. She was well-known for finding the best bargains at department stores or rummage sales. Vonda enjoyed a good card game, playing bingo, bird watching, or crocheting. She was also known for being a wonderful cook. Favorite dishes that she made for her family included goulash, stuffing, and her chocolate and pumpkins pies. Over the years, Vonda made many fond memories dancing with her husband Kenneth. She enjoyed sharing her talent of music with others by playing the piano or singing a song with her beautiful voice.
A celebration of life service will begin at noon Friday at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Brother Claude Howell officiating. Burial will follow at the Sandoval City Cemetery.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend visiting hours from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2017, at Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval.
The family asks that memorial contributions in Vonda’s memory be made to Carlyle Health Care Activity Funds.
