According to reports, around 7:24 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a motel on Potomac Avenue to speak with a complainant about someone following them. Officers contacted the complainant and, while speaking with her, observed narcotics in plain view.

Officers continued an investigation into the call and received assistance from the Mt Vernon Police Department Narcotics Unit. Because of the investigation a large quantity of methamphetamine and cannabis, packaged for delivery, were seized from the room and a vehicle parked outside.

The vehicle, which also had a hidden compartment, and currency have been seized pending forfeiture.

Officers arrested Julio Hernandez Garcia on charges of manufacture/delivery of between 400-900 grams of methamphetamine, and possession with intent to deliver between 2000-5000 grams of cannabis.
