JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident over the holiday weekend that sent two males to the hospital for treatment of injuries apparently suffered during a fight at a house party in rural Dix.

According to Chief Deputy Clint Taylor, his office received a call around 3 a.m. Friday, November 24, from Good Samaritan Hospital reporting a 22-year-old male from Dix had been admitted with a stab wound to the abdomen. He was ultimately airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment.

An initial investigation revealed a fight broke out at a party in the 20000 block of North Jacob Lane in rural Dix where the individual was reportedly stabbed.

An alert was then issued to be on the lookout for two 19-year-old males from Centralia who left the party in a white Ford F-250 with lift kit and LEDs in the wheel wells.

Less than an hour later Centralia police officers reported having located the two males and the truck in the 500 block of South Cherry in Centralia.

Jefferson County authorities asked that the two be kept separated and transported separately to meet their deputies at the intersection of Dix/Irvington Road and Highway 51. The truck was also towed as evidence.

When in custody of Jefferson County authorities it became evident that one of the subjects needed medical attention due to allegedly being struck in the head with a golf club during the initial fight. He was taken to Good Samaritan in Mt. Vernon for treatment of his injuries.

Taylor says the investigation is ongoing with several witnesses needing to be interviewed.  More details will be released as the investigation moves forward.
