CENTRALIA — Centralia Police are investigating a shooting just before 1 a.m. Monday morning that reportedly sent two people to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

According to Centralia Police Chief Brian Atchison, the two people were shooting at each other in front of a house in the 600 block of Jackson Street and that others were present at the time but they are not currently cooperating.

One of the two people was taken by ambulance to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital and the other was taken by private vehicle. Both, however, were later taken to St. Louis area hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

According to Centralia police, no other suspects are being sought at this time. They have not yet released the names of those involved in the shooting but Atchison says they are both adults.

Atchison asks anyone with information regarding this incident to please come forward as cases such as these are difficult to solve without the public’s help.
