Mt. Vernon woman charged with striking Central City store clerk with tire iron

CENTRAL CITY —  39-year-old Mt. Vernon woman has been arrested for allegedly striking a clerk at the Central City Citgo Station with a tire iron Saturday.

According to Central City police, Kimberly Jones allegedly went to the store over an apparent child custody dispute and struck Charity York-Becker, of Centralia in the arm with a tire iron while they were outside the store.

Jones reportedly left the scene but Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies took her into custody Sunday at the request of Central City police.

York-Becker went to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment of her injuries.
