MOUNT VERNON — Mt. Vernon Township High School was placed on lockdown Friday morning after receiving a threat.

According to reports, Mt. Vernon Police Department received a call from the high school Friday morning that a parent called the school and said that another parent threatened to come to the school and shoot the caller’s child.

The school immediately went into a “Code White” lockdown after receiving the information, which according to the school website, gives the school “time to investigate and verify information while implementing a heightened level of awareness, supervision and presence.”

The website also said proper protocols were followed, and the school anticipates a normal schedule for Monday.
