Charles “Chuck” Shumard has remained in the Clinton County Jail after he bail was revoked following the jury’s September finding and he was remanded into the custody of the Clinton County Jail to await sentencing.

Judge Stan Brandmeyer on Monday sentenced Shumard to 5-years on each of the two Class 2 felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a family member under the age of 18. The sentences will be served concurrently.

Shumard was arrested on the charges in July 2016 and his bail was set at $25,000. He was freed a few days later after posting $2,500 cash bond, with the instruction of having no contact with the victim or the victim’s family.

The jury in the case deliberated for three hours before finding Shumard guilty on both counts. Upon the completion of his prison sentence, Shumard will have to serve 2-years mandatory supervised release and register as a sex offender.
