JEFFERSON COUNTY — The jury trial of a 26-year-old Mt. Vernon man on meth conspiracy charges is scheduled to begin Tuesday in Jefferson County court.

Dewayne Moore has been charged in Jefferson County Court with a Class X Felony conspiring to obtain 15 to 100 grams of methamphetamine with two other subjects and deliver that meth to a confidential source of the Mt. Vernon Police Department.

Moore is additionally charged with 11 Class 2 felony counts delivery of less than 5 grams of meth on separate dates in connection with that conspiracy.

A Class X felony is punishable by between 6 and 30 years in prison if convicted and a Class 2 felony is punishable by between 3 and 7 years.

Moore has been held in the Jefferson County Jail since his July arrest with bail set at $100,000. He was acquitted in November 2016 of the 2015 shooting death of Cortez Pickett at Pickett’s Mt. Vernon home.
