Two injured in two-car crash Saturday in Centralia

CENTRALIA — Two people were injured in a two vehicle crash Saturday night in the 1600 block of East McCord Street.

According to Centralia police, a car driven by 16-year-old Alyssa Atchison, of Junction City, exited a church parking lot around 8:27 p.m. Saturday onto eastbound East McCord.

Atchison then began to make a left turn into Park Drive, but apparently failed to allow a car traveling behind her enough time to slow down when pulling onto McCord Street.

That car, driven by 28-year-old Phillip Young, of Centralia, reportedly struck the rear driver’s side of Atchison’s car with the passenger side of his car.

Young was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital along with a 20-year-old passenger in the Atchison vehicle, Brandie McHenry.

Atchison and another passenger in her car, 19-year-old Avriana Atchison and a passenger in the Young vehicle, 11-year-old Kalee Walton, were uninjured.
