MVPD responds to multiple shots fired calls on Christmas Eve

MOUNT VERNON — Mt. Vernon Police received multiple reports of gunshots early Christmas Eve morning.

The first report was made at 2:48 a.m. Sunday, with the caller saying they heard gunshots in the area of South 17th and Cherry streets.

Police received two more calls of gunshots in the same area, and after officers responded they reportedly found shell casings in the area.

Then around 3 a.m. Sunday police received a call reporting a car with bullet holes in it in the 2500 block of Broadway Street.

The caller said they had parked their car at Geo’s Lounge and came back to find it had been shot. There were reportedly three bullet holes in the car.

At 3:17 a.m. MVPD received another report of gunshots heard in the 1000 block of South 13th Street.
