According to reports, around 4:27 a.m. Saturday, officers first noticed LaShawn Wilks driving on the parking lot at Huck’s Convenience Store on East Calumet and they confirmed there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Wilks reportedly exited the parking lot without signaling, and then traveled west on Calumet at approximately 50 miles per hour, which is twice the posted speed limit.

When officers attempted a traffic stop, Wilks reportedly turned onto North Hickory where he was traveling more than 70 miles per hour. The pursuit continued west on Broadway and then north on Beech before Wilks pulled into a driveway in the 100 block of North Beech.

He was taken into custody without incident on charges alleging driving while license suspended, and aggravated fleeing and eluding, as well as on the outstanding Marion County traffic warrant.
