Blood trail leads CPD officers to criminal damage suspect

CENTRALIA — A blood trail in the snow reportedly led Centralia police to a 29-year-old Centralia man over the weekend after they responded to a home on North Walnut where a window had been broken.

Andrew Howell reportedly broke a window to the home after he was denied entry. Howell reportedly had been at the home earlier Friday night but when he returned the resident wouldn’t let him in.

Howell reportedly suffered a severe laceration when breaking out the window and then left a trail of blood to a neighboring home where two residents were attempting to stop Howell’s bleeding.

He was transported to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment in the ER. Upon his release he was taken to the Marion County Jail on a criminal damage charge.
