MARION COUNTY — A 42-year-old Iuka man was sentenced to 2-years probation after he pleaded guilty Tuesday in Marion County Court to indecent solicitation of a child.

Travis Henderson has been free on bond since shortly after his March 2017 arrest on the Class 4 felony charge.

Henderson admitted in court Tuesday that he had sent inappropriate text messages to solicit a 16-year-old girl to perform a sex act. The girl was reportedly friends with Henderson’s step-son.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation into the case after the girl’s father had filed a complaint about Henderson harassing his daughter.

In addition to the two-year probation sentence, Henderson was sentenced to 8-days in jail with credit for 8-days served, and ordered to complete drug and alcohol treatment as ordered in his sex offender evaluation. He is to have no contact with the victim in the case.
