SALEM — A 41-year-old Salem man was arrested over the weekend on charges of domestic battery and intimidation.
Salem police arrested Derek Mummel after they responded to an anonymous request they perform a welfare check on a woman with an abusive boyfriend at an apartment in the 200 block of West Church.
Upon their arrival at the apartment building, officers reportedly found Mummel hiding on the roof of the apartment building.
He’s accused of putting his hand over the woman’s mouth and nose, which impeded her breathing and that he also threatened to kill her.
Mummel was taken to the Marion County jail on charges of aggravated domestic battery, intimidation and on an outstanding Douglas County arrest warrant.
