WASHINGTON COUNTY — Route 15 just one mile east of U.S. 51 in Washington County was closed for several hours Friday after a mobile home being transported was blown off its trailer and across both lanes of the highway.

According to the Illinois State Police, around 3:45 p.m. Friday, a semi being driven by 30-year-old Joseph Taylor, of Iuka, was traveling westbound on Route 15 when a heavy gust of wind blew the open-faced mobile home he was hauling of its trailer and onto Route 15, blocking both lanes of traffic.

The 12-feet by 60-feet mobile home reportedly struck several utility poles, which caused power lines to fall on the roadway.

Route 15 was closed and traffic diverted for approximately two and a half hours while crews cleaned up the scene. No injuries were reported.
