CENTRALIA — Centralia area residents will soon be able to get groceries and everyday essentials delivered right to their door on the same day they’re ordered.

Instacart, an on-demand grocery delivery service, is launching in the Centralia area starting January 31, through popular local stores including both Schnucks and CVS.

The delivery area will cover over 11K households and is bringing income earning opportunities to the area with plans to bring on more than 100 new shoppers who will be hired to hand pick groceries and other items customers order on their smartphones using Instacart’s shopping app.

To use Instacart’s service, customers can go online to instacart.com or use a mobile app on their smartphone. They select their items from either Schnuck’s or CVS, select a window of time for delivery and check out.

An Instacart shopper then receives the order on their phone, shops for the items the customer has selected, and then delivers the items within the delivery timeframe.

The service area includes Centralia, Odin, Wamac, Central City, Junction City, Sandoval and Walnut Hill.
