FRANKLIN COUNTY — Preliminary autopsy results on a West City couple found dead in their home last Thursday shows that they died from gunshot wounds.

Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler says it appears 86-year-old Billie Gene Aaron shot his wife, 86-year-old Wilma Louise Aaron, before taking his own life. Leffler says a note was found written by Mr. Aaron.  Both were experiencing recent health issues.

West City Police got a call at 2:45 last Thursday afternoon by a relative of the residents in the home located in the 400 block of South Central Street reporting a possible death.

Investigators found the couple dead in the home. Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigators were contacted to assist in processing the home.

The cause of death is under investigation at this time. West City Police does not anticipate any foul play by a third party.
