WASHINGTON COUNTY — Interstate 64 in Washington County was closed to eastbound traffic for several hours Thursday morning, after a tractor semi-trailer combo crashed and came to rest across both lanes of the interstate.

According to the Illinois State Police, 40-year-old Anthony Partney, of Lakewood, Colorado, was driving a 2017 Freightliner eastbound on Interstate 64 just after 6 a.m. Thursday when the Frieghtliner traveled off the roadway to the right, and struck a guardrail.

Partney attempted to steer the truck back onto the roadway but lost control of the vehicle causing it to overturn onto its passenger side. The Freightliner and its trailer came to rest blocking both eastbound lanes.

Eastbound I-64 was closed for approximately 4 and a half hours for crash investigation and cleanup.

There were no injuries but Partney was charged with improper lane usage.
