TROY, Ill. — All westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Troy were closed early this morning due to a head-on crash that killed one person and injured six others.

According to the Illinois State Police, the wreck happened around 1 a.m. today. A white sedan was reportedly driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-70 near milepost 17 in Troy. The sedan apparently collided head-on with a black sedan, which carried five occupants inside the car.

The driver of the white vehicle was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger inside the white vehicle, along with the five occupants of the black car, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their conditions are currently unknown.

In response, all westbound lanes of I-70 near Troy were closed. They have since reopened..
