MOUNT VERNON — An increased police presence will continue Friday at Mt. Vernon Township High School in response to an implied threat on social media Wednesday.

According to school officials, things went well Thursday at the school, and that in cooperation with both city and county law enforcement, they have continued investigating the threatening SNAPCHAT posts.

Authorities and school officials have interviewed multiple students/families at the school and at student residences and have not found any direct or credible threats for MVTHS.

However, they are taking extra precautions such as increased supervision and police presence that will be noticeable as students go to school Friday.

Both school officials and law enforcement emphasize their commitment to keeping students safe, stating the safety of students and staff is of the utmost importance to the community.
