WOODRIDGE, Ill. (AP) — A suburban Chicago man is in jail after he allegedly bit a police officer in the face, shoved his head onto the ground and attempted to take his gun.

The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports that 50-year-old Antonio Romo of Woodridge is charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting or obstructing a police officer, attempting to disarm a police officer and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He is in jail after a judge set his bond at $350,000.

Prosecutors allege Romo attacked Woodridge Sgt. Mark Walters at about 11 a.m. on Wednesday. They haven’t said what prompted the attack but that at the time there was an arrest warrant out for Romo on a drug charge.

Woodridge police have not commented on Walters’ condition.
