Glen R. Ramey will have to serve 85 percent of his sentence, along with 3-years to natural life on mandatory supervised release when he completes his prison term.

Ramey filed an open plea of guilty in January to Class X predatory criminal sexual assault in exchange for a first-degree murder charge for the strangling death of Sabrina Stauffenberg being dismissed.

Ramey has been advised that despite that sentencing guideline, as a sexually violent or sexually dangerous person he could be civilly incarcerated for an indefinite period following his prison term.

If he does gain release from prison, Ramey will have to register for life as a sexual predator. He remains in the Richland County Jail where he has been held since his arrest Sabrina’s November 23, 2016, slaying.

Victims impact statements from Sabrina’s relatives were read in court Thursday prior to sentencing. The child’s body was found behind a vinegar plant on the south side of Olney, a town in southeastern Illinois of about 9,000 people.

According to prosecutors, Ramey suffocated Sabrina on or around Nov. 23. Relatives told authorities they last saw her waiting on her front porch for a ride to church.
